Situated at the feet of the Tarus Mountains, just on the edge of Konyaalti, Sarısu Plaj is also known as Women’s Beach. This beach area boasts a seaside retreat hidden away from the crowds, as well as a section nearby open to women only during the day.
Whether grilling, picnicking, sunbathing or swimming, visitors will certainly savor the sweeping mountain to sea views at this affordable social destination. From the entrance, a winding walk through pine-shaded grills, picnic tables, and playgrounds leads to an open rock and sand beach. Several markets are located there with everything needed to host family and friends for a barbecue or a day at the sea. Even in the cool of the off season, we noticed fully stocked snacks and drinks and swim gear. Sun chairs and umbrellas were available for an affordable fee, as were plenty of showers, toilets and changing areas. No camping facilities or hotels are available onsite.
You might consider taking a trip to the top of the mountains by cable car before swimming and picnicking because the beach shares a parking lot with the Tunektepe Teleferik. This gem of a beach might be a little off the beaten path but holds only nature views – not resorts like the nearby Konyaaltı Plaj.
Important Note: Photography is strongly discouraged in the women’s only section for the privacy of other visitors. Privacy-conscious Muslim women would greatly appreciate your consideration by heeding this advice.
