If you are looking for an escape to nature from the noise of the city or the heat of the beach without having to go very far, Doyran Göleti is a lovely choice. With sparkling turquoise waters that match the color of the sea on some days, and either the Taurus Mountains or trees on all sides, this lake and nature preserve has a picturesque view from every angle.
Doyran Göleti is at a higher altitude, so the temperature tends to be just a bit cooler than in the city. This makes for a lovely break on a hot summer day. Weekends when the weather is nice it can get busy with families setting up to barbecue and enjoy time together in the natural picnic areas. (Meaning, there are no picnic tables or specified areas. Find a good spot and make it work, just like the locals.) However, if you get there early enough you can find a comfortable place to hang out for a few hours or for the day. There is a rough trail all the way around the lake for those who like to hike.
For rustic camping enthusiasts, we have heard Doyran Göleti is a decent option. However, keep in mind you won’t find any amenities like restrooms or markets. It is camping in its most basic form and a true escape to nature.
If you are looking for a delicious breakfast the morning after camping that isn’t too far away, be sure to check out Zeytin Dalı or one of the plethora of other options in Çakırlar.
Getting there: Doyran Göleti is about a 20 minute drive outside of Antalya just a bit north of Çakırlar, the breakfast village. You can get there easily using GPS in your car or if you hire a taxi or driver.
